I have established a genetic link of my Bell
family of western Missouri and the descendants of at least one line of Bells
who lived in Phelps and Dent Counties in the 1850's. This line is descended
from William Bell and Rachel Ellsberry. Is there any way that I can find
other male descendants of this line who still live in Phelps, Dent, or Texas
Counties who would like to participate in a DNA study. Specifically, people
of interest would be the descendants of Elisha Enoch, Isaac Ellsberry, and
James William Bell.
Thank you, Thomas J. Bell.

wife Researcher: Caroline Anderson Bohrman a reply | another reply Surnames: Hobson, Flint, Anderson Posted:10 Apr 2005 My great grandfather was James Hobson b. abt 1853 in Dent Co. I believe. He married Ida Jane Flint. My grandmother, Emma Caroline Hobson, was also born in Dent Co. on September 24, 1880. In my grandmother's Bible her father is listed as James K. Polk Hobson, sometimes even written Kapolk. All of the genealogies list him under the children of Joab Hobson as James Anderson Hobson. I do not understand this. I think it would have been mentioned as I was growing up because Emma Caroline Hobson later married Jones Anderson in California. The 1860 census lists Joab Hobson in Dent Co. with a son, James K. age 7. Is there any other source to check these names and dates?? I hope this is not too confusing. I would appreciate any help I can get. Thanks. Isaac Hicks married Julia Lay and they had a daughter Virginia Hicks born in
1901. So know he was still alive in 1901 but have not idea how old the child was
when he died. Researcher: Sharon Surnames: Hicks, Lay, Brown Posted: 03 Mar 2005 Can anyone help me find a cemetery near Bunker. I have
no name or directions but an Isaac Hicks should be buried there. His death would
have been after 1942 because he had a child born then. This child has
never been to her fathers grave and has ask if I could find it. Dent County 1850, 1860, and 1870. He had many children by 2 different wives
(Louisa Sims and then Polly Turnbough). Researcher: Cathy Connelly Surnames: Posted: 03 Mar 2005
I have been trying to find the present-day
location of "Buck Snort", as I have ancestors who were born there. I found
a Bucksort fork of the Huzzah , in Dent County, on my atlas, and wondered
if there had been a settlement there? I know that from 1860-68 there was
indeed a post office at Buck Snort. Could this have been a railkroad
encampment? My ancestors all were rr folk. Where would I go to search for
records?
I have found NOTHING so far, so anything would
bve appreciated!!!
Thanks!
Cathy Connelly.

written by Walter E. Duckworth during his service in WWII. It is my intention to
publish these letters and so I want to get as much background on him as I can.
Unfortunately, Walter and his wife, Pearl, had no children. Consequently, I must
rely on other sources of information. As luck would have it, Walter (aka Bill)
does not appear in the SSDI. The best guess I have on a birth year comes from a
document found among the letters. His age suggests a birth in 1915 or 1916.
