It is located on Highway 32 just east of Highway 19 in Salem, Missouri. Charles Henry Seaman, born Feb 14,
1827 in Bath, England, son of Charles Edwin & Elizabeth Smith Seaman of
England. They came to America in 1830. He married
Margaret Marlin
July 3, 1851 in Blair Co., PA. After Charles died, Margaret married James
T. Wolf. She was born Sep 18, 1836 in Terry, PA & died Jan 27, 1894 in
Keokuk, Lee, Iowa. She is buried with Charles in Cedar Grove Cemetery. I
believe the space between them is the unmarked grave of their son,
Frankie, born Jun 30, 1869 in Salem & died Jul 21, 1869 in Salem. Obituary for Charles' wife: Mrs. Margaret B., wife of James T. Wolf, passed away Jan. 28, 1894 aged
57 years. She was formerly known in Salem as Mrs. Seaman, wife of Charles
Seaman, deceased. She was loved by all who knew her and many still cherish
her memory. She was a strong advocate of temperance. She had been a member
of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church for many years and was a consistant
christian. She often spoke of being willing to die and though she died
very suddenly and had no time for parting words still there is no doubt as
to her resting place, for where we will be in the world to come depends
upon what we are in this world. Her home at the time of her death was in
Keokuk, Iowa, from whence her remains were brought to Salem for funeral
and interment Jan. 29, 1894. We commend the bereaved family to God and the
word of His grace which is able to build them up and give them a place
among them that are sanctified. Written in family bible were these words "Mrs. M.B. Wolf, wife of James T. Wolf, former wife of C.H. Seaman died at Keokuk, Iowa, Jan 27, 1894 at ten 40 in the evening. She now rests in Heaven. Prepare to meet her. Written by her loving husband, James T. Wolf".Submitted by: Marcia Wagner Thompson, Allen L. 4 March 1889, Shannon Co.- 8 July 1971, Info from Ozark HERITAGE, volume 3, page 265. Submitted by Gene Volner. |
